Oh The Places You Will Go

So after a year of planning, conniving, scheming, plotting, worrying, saving, and much more…

This past weekend I finally got to execute my plan!

It started with this…

A friend delivered this to my hubby on Thursday evening at work! It was a letter I wrote complied of a bunch of Dr. Suess quotes telling him roughly what was going on…

Then this…

My mom created these wonderful, Thing 1,2, and 3 shirts for the children to again give a clue for the coming weekend.

Also involved was a Dr. Seuss pillowcase and themed pj’s, which missed getting photographed!

Friday morning we packed up and headed North, with hubby driving and me reading directions…You know I love him when I am willing to drive over this bridge again…

Once we got beyond here, it was pretty smooth sailing to our first destination…Bellingham, MA…through several friends I was able to secure lodging with a conservative family (who just happened to be one of our preachers cousins and who also knew many of my husbands Wine cousins). We spent the weekend boarding and fellowshipping with this family and their church friends. But the goal of the weekend was this…

If you know my husband, you know he loves children stories, and loves telling them! I was inspired by a Dr. Seuss book, my sister Dani, gave one of our children for their birthday last year. In it there was art created by Dr. Seuss which hubby fell in love with. I wasn’t able to find that art work but I was able to find this…

He had a blast admiring the artwork created to honor Dr. Seuss and his creativity. The piece that featured Horton, the Things, Cindy Lou, Thedwick, Sam I Am, and more was an open book, inviting you to walk through and explore! Not only does my husband love children’s books, he loves art, this garden was right up his alley! Here are some of the figures alone, beautiful and fun…

After spending the day exploring the other museums around this garden, we went on a search for THE Mulberry St. mentioned in “It Happened On Mulberry Street”. No the original one does not intersect with Bliss!

It was a super fun weekend. I am so glad to have been blessed with the inspiration, patience, tight-mouth, funding, and friends to make this weekend possible!

It’s not everyday I can surprise my husband with a fun, memory filled weekend away. It’s not everyday my husband turns 30. But it is everyday that I am blessed to spend with him and enjoy him.

1200 miles and 30 hours

Last weekend we headed to SC, to drop off Nevin and Theda’s van for Les and Tonia when they come home on furlough on Oct. 4. We were blessed to be able to stay with our friends, Allen and Anne Beachy and their 4 children, when we arrived! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them. Charity broadened her vocabulary adding cow, calf, hash (calf’s name was hashbrown), and horse! We also learned the fine art of making butter the old fashioned way and enjoyed picking some fruit from a wild persimmon tree! The fellowship was sweet and the bond of friendship just a smidge bit stronger! We are glad to have been able to bless so many with this trip and blessed for the many prayers said on our behalf as we traveled seperate on the way down and together on the way home. We were also blessed to experience some awesome rest stops on the way down, which allowed the children to run around and enjoy caterpillars, along with other things! The children enjoyed their playmates once we arrived in SC. They traveled wonderfully and I was ever so grateful for a friends helpful hint of packing bags full of new goodies (toys and food) for them to enjoy, library books and presents to hand out along the way. The travel kits weren’t filled with expensive things and the gifts were simple pleasures (such as pipe cleaners). Happy meal toys also added to the fun! Charity’s toy amazed me, I don’t ever remember a cool toy like hers, the eyes even opened and closed! The simple pleasures of life to be enjoyed for sure! And what is traveling without the ability to enjoy God’s amazing creation! We had beautiful clear days, sunshine and fair temperatures! Definately blessings all around!

May your blessings be bountiful this week!

Not Beyond Your Strength

October 2,2003

(almost one month after the accident)

He has you in His hands,

He’s not planning on letting you go.

He knows your pains and struggles,

As you fight to hold on.

Just remember God is faithful,

He won’t let you be tested beyond your strength,

But remember as your being tested,

He’ll provide a way for you to endure.

You think there’s no hope,

The days are long

And it’s a rough and bumpy road,

You struggle to hang on; Oh let Him bear your load.

For God is always faithful,

He won’t let anything befall you that you can’t handle,

As you’re being tried and tested,

He’ll provide a way out so you can endure it.

Hand it over to our Lord and Savior,

Know that He hears your cries,

Breathe a sigh of relief,

And smile because you know He gives you strength.

For you know that God is faithful,

You know He will give you strength,

And as you go through these trials and tests,

You can hang on because you know you’re blessed.
